Day 9- Travel Day

Good day Matey—-

Today there is not much to report. We met up with our group at 9 a.m., got on a bus and said good bye to Cairns. It was a very nice waterfront City with high heat and higher humidity but since I am writing to mainly Michiganders, there is no complaining going on here.

We arrived at the airport 3 hours early and waited for our plane to take us to Melbourne. With the time change, (another hour later, we are now 16 hours ahead), it was 5p.m when we arrived and 6:15 by the time we made it to our hotel. Believe it or not it was cool here with a temp of about 64 degrees.

We are staying at The Vibe, a boutique hotel in the heart of Melbourne, overlooking the Yarra River.

Melbourne is in the State of Victoria and has over 5 million residence. It too is a coastal city with a ton of bars, restaurants and plazas.

We started our adventure on the roof top bar overlooking the Yarra River. We got some dinner tips and made our way down, crossed the bridge and went to a beautiful restaurant on the waterfront. It was delicious.

As we headed back to the hotel, we were able to see everything lit up and beautiful. When we got back and headed to our rooms, we were hoping sleep would come fast so we could wake up and start our day. Silly us…the fire alarm was set off and a loud alarm and instructions were yelling at us through the speakers in our room. Funny enough, when we first got to the room, we saw a sign on our bathroom door that warned us not to shower with the door open because the steam might set off the fire alarm.

Well…it did…I got the blame from my group lol, but it wasn’t me. We walked down the stairs, saw a couple fire trucks, waited for the all clear and went to bed.

More tomorrow….
