Today is day 9 and we have been at sea all day. It’s been very rocky since yesterday and it been tough to navigate too many places on board. Our morning was spent doing some housekeeping like returning our rental gear and picking up our passports. We tried to hang out in the Panoramic Lounge for a bit but then we ended up back in our cabin to try to stay safe.
We ordered lunch to our cabin but unfortunately, no one saw that there had a seafood bar for lunch in the restaurant so we missed it completely. Sadly.
We played a little bingo, played some cards and then trivia. We met up with friends in the bar before the Captains farewell address. Most of the ship met up in the Explorer lounge Nicole, our fearless social director recapped our trip as follows:
“Together, we went to some of the world’s most remote locations, saw breathtaking views, ate delicious food, met new friends and hung out with old friends too. “
There were 179 passengers and 233 crew. Out of the 233 crew, there are 42 nationalities. The top 6 include, Kenya, Ukraine, South Africa, Indonesia, India and Philippines. Such an interesting mix of people and together they showed us an amazing time.
There was a parade of the crew, called upon by their designated positions. Our sommelier Daniel held a fabulous wine tasting and was sure to visit us every night. Nicole planned fun activities on board so we were never bored and our butler and cabin attendant Pratish and Esther were at our beck and call. Finally, our Captain spoke. His first words were “Please put all of your belongings on the floor tonight.” The Drake Passage was about to show us who she is.
We also had a wonderful dinner with all of the new friends that we met. It is so interesting hearing everyone’s stories. Throughout the evening, we all went around the table and did a toast. It was nice to hear the gratitude and positive experiences everyone had.
We are all now hunkered down in our cabins, swells in the ocean are high, the wind is blowing strong and we are expecting it to get worse. I wish you all a peaceful night.
Cici at sea signing off……
