Good Day matey—
After a 15.5 hour flight, we arrived in Brisbane in the early hours on Monday. Monday for us, Sunday for you! Very weird to figure out the timing. By the time we collected our luggage (mine was the last piece off the plane) we arrived at our hotel and checked in.
Australia is comprised of six states including New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western and South Austria and Tasmania.
Brisbane, where we started, is the largest city and the capital of the State of Queensland. It sits on the Brisbane River, which opens up to the Coral Sea. The weather here is mild and ranges from low 60s to mid 80s.
Our first day was mainly quiet, filled with getting settled in. Our request for a Sports Bar to watch the Super Bowl lead us to the near by new Casino. Surprised? It was fun to watch the game with the locals and hang out a little.
We walked to a wonderful dinner at La Vue on the Brisbane River and enjoyed our first night. The area has beautifully designed buildings and the waterfront is stunning, especially at night. The restaurant was French and the food was not only delicious but so pretty! Hard to dig in and ruin the artistry.
Not too much else to report as it was our travel day but Tuesday will be filled with a walking tour of the city, a lot more pictures and hopefully, stories to tell.
